Mariner Company - Inaugural Ceremony

Submitted by member Guy Stitt

From: Chris Phillips, Commanding Officer Navy Recruiting District Seattle
To: Guy Stitt, President Navy League - Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council

I would like to personally thank you for your contribution to funding our inaugural Mariner Company. The ceremony took place prior to the game with over 60 Delayed Entry Personnel and 10 of our Recruiters. The Chiefs, as you would imagine, trained these new Sailors prior to the game on how to properly march onto the field and proudly represent our Navy. LT Andy Baldwin (reality TV's the Bachelor: An Officer and Gentleman) was the re-enlisting officer. Prior to the first pitch…these men and women took to the field and represented us very well during pre-game festivities.

This monumental task could not happen without YOU!!! [Below are] a few photo's of the event for you to share with your Navy Leagues and friends.

Blue Jacket Game

Submitted by member Charles Grosvenor

The POLA Class had an absolute BALL (no pun intended) at the game on Thursday night (7-17). Got to have a cadet throw out the first pitch, sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" at the seventh inning stretch (on the field), danced the Macarena in the eighth (on the field), got player signed baseballs after the ball game and got to attend the game free of charge (Military Appreciation Night), all at the pleasure of Rick Smith, owner of the Kitsap Bluejackets Baseball Club and local lawyer here in Bremerton. Transportation was provided, for free, by MWR at Bangor (thanks to Mr. Bill Oliver). The cadets made an extremely good showing for the Sea Cadet Corps that night. Look for an article in the Northwest Navigator (next issue).
